Philippine Immigrant Family Became Canadian Citizens

On November 24, 2016, twenty people were recognized as new Canadian citizens. The oath-taking ceremony took place at the Government House in Regina, Saskatchewan. Included in this group was Shaira Oyando and her family, natives of The Philippines. Moving to Canada five years ago, they were recognized as permanent residents.

To become citizens, the Oyando family all passed the Canadian citizenship test and were able to take the oath to receive a certificate of Canadian citizenship. Ryan Oyando, the brother of Shaira, encouraged anyone wanting to become a citizen of Canada, “Learn about Canada, share your culture with them, and have fun.” For more information on becoming a Canadian citizen, contact BecomeACanadian.
